GUWAHATI: As the government of Assam has allowed for one time inter-district movement to ease tensions, thousands of people had applied for the same.

A total of 2565 travelled by buses on day 1, over 10000 people traveled on day 2.

As ASTC is unable to tackle the huge numbers of people who are to travel by buses due to lack of staff members, so the state government had extended the travel dates till 30th April.

However, no new registration are to be accepted by the authorities. If demands persists for travel, then the state government might consider another such travel facility after the 30th of April.

"This is being done so that till May 3 at least people within Assam can settle down. After that, we can focus on people coming from outside Assam," Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a press meet.

It should be mentioned that hundreds of Assam students are on their way from Kota to Guwahati. They have already reached West Bengal.

The government has prepared quarantine facilities for them. All boys will be quarantined at Sarusajai stadium while girls will be quarantined in three nearby hotels.

The police personnel accompanying students will also be quarantined.
