Infrastructural Projects Worth ₹10,482.65 Lakh To Be Inaugurated In Assam's Karbi Anglong Today

 

GUWAHATI: A total of 22 infrastructure projects worth over ₹10,482.65 lakh will be inaugurated in Karbi Anglong on Thursday, April 17. The inauguration ceremony will take place near Rengbonghom Higher Secondary School in Diphu, and will be attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“These projects will boost connectivity, honour local heritage and elevate the natural and cultural charm of the region, ushering in a new era of development," Sarma posted on X.

The projects have been completed under various schemes initiated by the Public Works Department (PWD), as some of them include major road improvement and widening works connecting key locations such as NH329, Rongmonjir, Rongkimei, Taralangso, and Diphu. The construction of RCC bridges, including one on Disagebeda to Manja via Terang gaon Road and another on Diphu Dillai Saharijan (DDS) Road, have also been completed..

A road project from Birola (Taralangso) to Rongkimei near NH-36, including a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridge, stands out as the most expensive individual project in particular with an allocation of ₹4415 lakh.

Additionally, a total of 10 road development projects have been included in the inauguration list.

Other completed works feature the construction of a 4-lane road, a Karbi Anglong welcome gate at Lahorijan, cultural landmarks such as the Rengbonghom statue, and the Rongpharpi Rongbe statue at Diphu’s 5th Mile. The upgradation of roads from MRL17 DAV to Monlom and other connectivity links have also been taken up.
