Indian Army Soldier Abducted And Brutally Murdered In Manipur

 

GUWAHATI: Serto Thangthang Kom, an Indian Army Soldier serving at the Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur, was abducted and brutally murdered in a heart-wrenching event that unfolded on September 16.

The harrowing incident unfolded on September 16 at approximately 10 AM when three unidentified assailants forcibly entered the soldier's home who was on the porch at the time with his 10-year-old son.

According to the boy, the assailants menacingly brandished a firearm, placing it against Serto's head, and compelling him into a white-coloured vehicle before fleeing the scene.

There was no information regarding the whereabouts of the soldier for quite a while. However, the morning of September 17 brought devastating news, at around 9:30 AM, Serto's lifeless body was discovered at Khuningthek Village, located to the east of Mongjam and falling under the jurisdiction of the Sogolmang Police Station in Imphal East.

His identity was subsequently confirmed by his family, who revealed that the soldier had tragically succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the head. The post-mortem report is currently pending.

The Indian Army has swiftly deployed a team to provide comprehensive assistance to the grieving family during this trying period.
