Indian Army Returns Missing Assam Soldier's Belongings, Search Suspended Till Next Year

GUWAHATI: Two Indian Army officers have made a visit to the family of missing soldier Gautam Rajbongshi, whose whereabouts have remained unknown since October 8.

Rajbongshi disappeared during a training exercise near Mount Kun in Ladakh, where an avalanche struck, and has not been found since.

Hailing from Gogamukh in Dhemaji, Rajbongshi was one of four soldiers who faced the same grim fate after the avalanche incident.

The two Army officers returned the soldier's belongings, including clothing, documents, and other essentials, to his family.

However, they conveyed the heartbreaking news that due to the harsh and relentless snowfall in Ladakh, search and rescue operations would remain suspended until the onset of April or May next year.

Rajbongshi's wife, Sunu, had previously penned a heartfelt letter to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, appealing for swift action to initiate search and rescue efforts and locate her missing husband.
