Indian Army Conducts Flood Relief Exercise At IIT Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Indian Army, in collaboration with various government and emergency services, conducted the exercise JAL RAHAT, a flood relief drill, at IIT Guwahati. 

This joint exercise involved key stakeholders including the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and the Assam Police.

The primary aim of the exercise was to enhance awareness about flood relief operations among local communities and to establish a seamless synergy between all participating entities. The day-long event showcased a series of drills designed to demonstrate the coordinated efforts in flood relief.

Key highlights included a simulation of rescuing stranded individuals from flood-affected areas. The Indian Army's specialist team performed a helicopter winching operation.

Medical teams were on-site, and participants demonstrated innovative methods to address flood challenges. SDRF and NDRF teams exhibited their proficiency in navigating and performing rescues in deep water scenarios.
