GUWAHATI: The India vs. England World Cup warm-up match scheduled for September 30 at the Barasapara Stadium has been officially called off.
Today, the toss had already taken place, with India winning it and choosing to bat, but heavy rainfall across the city led to the cancellation of the highly-anticipated warm-up encounter.
Taking to Twitter, BCCI put up, “Update from Guwahati. The warm-up match between India and England has been abandoned due to persistent rain.”
The defending champions, England arrived in Guwahati on Thursday following over a 38-hour travel, while India landed in the city a day prior, immediately following the series win against Australia.
Team India will play its next warmup match against Netherlands on October 3 at Thiruvananthapuram.
