GUWAHATI: A host of opposition leaders reacted to the Union Budget 2021-22. The budget was announced by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi exuded confidence in the budget. "Today's Budget shows India's confidence and will instill self-confidence in the world. The Budget has the vision of self-reliance and features every section of the society," stated PM Modi.
Following the announcement of the budget, the opposition has reacted to the same. Here are the reactions of the leaders:
Rahul Gandhi, Senior Congress Leader and Member of Parliament (MP)
Forget putting cash in the hands of people, Modi Govt plans to handover India's assets to his crony capitalist friends.#Budget2021

This BJP government reminds me of the garage mechanic who told his client, “I couldn’t fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder.” #Budget2021

Gaurav Gogoi, Congress MP
A disappointing budget. BJP has put India into insolvency and bankruptcy and is busy selling public-owned assets to 12-15 major companies. Rest of India which is struggling with rising costs, unemployment and corruption have to reconcile with a meaningless “atma nirbhar” slogan.

Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal
It is anti-people budget. They always make false statements. India's first paperless budget sold almost every sector. There is nothing for the unorganized sector in the budget: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee pic.twitter.com/MqxGvDtAF8

India’s first paperless budget is also a 100% visionless budget.Theme of the fake budget is Sell India!

Common people ignored. Farmers ignored.
Rich get richer, nothing for middle class, poor get poorer (1/3)
Ripun Bora, Assam Congress Chief and MP
So, the BJP government has made parliament the place to launch election manifestos for assembly elections. This Budget is nothing more than an election manifesto full of jumlas! #AntiPeopleBJP
