Vaishnaw revealed that this engine has an output of 1,200 horsepower, surpassing the 500-600 horsepower of similar engines developed by only four other countries with this technology.

The minister further stated that the first trial run for the engine is planned on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana. While the manufacturing phase is complete, system integration is currently underway.

Vaishnaw also highlighted that this development will lead further operations to adapting hydrogen-powered systems in trucks, tugboats, and other applications.

However, he also acknowledged the need to domestically manufacture more components of the value chain to achieve complete technological independence.
