India: Defence Minister to Lay foundation Stone of 43 Bridges

Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh will be laying the foundation stone of a total of 43 bridges in seven border States and Union Territories today, on 24th September, via video conferencing.


The bridges, to be constructed at strategically important areas, will ensure fast movement of army troops and weapons.


"Of the 43 bridges constructed by the Border Roads Organisation, 10 are in Jammu and Kashmir, eight each in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh, seven in Ladakh, four each in Punjab and Sikkim, and two in Himachal Pradesh,” Lt Colonel Harsh Wardhan Pande, PRO Defence informed.


Amongst the list of bridges to be constructed is the Nechiphu Tunnel on road to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
