GUWAHATI: Upon signing the “New Delhi Declaration”, India along with Bhutan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Nepal have joined hands to save the Rhino population of Assam. The four countries have initiated collaborative efforts to protect the species during the Asian Rhino Range States Meeting in the National capital.
According to the report, the five countries also agreed to strengthen protection regimes, intelligence gathering and real-time sharing of intelligence information on poaching to secure the rhino population within the range countries and also efforts will be made to identify corridors across international boundary for safe and free movement of the Rhinos.
The Event was organized by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate change, International Union for Conservation of Nature/Species Survival Commission, Asian Rhino Specialist Group along with WWF-India, International Rhino Foundation and Aaranyak NGO.
