Indefinite Strike of Petrol Pumps Withdrawn in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The indefinite strike called by North East India Petroleum Dealers' Association (NEIPDA) in the Greater Guwahati area from 7th September has been withdrawn.

On 5th September, the Kamrup (M) District Administration, Kamrup (Metro) called for an emergency meeting with BPCL, IOCL, HPCL, and NEIPDA (GGU).

In the meeting, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has assured District Administration and NEIPDA that supply of MS and HSD will be restored with immediate effect to RRND Service Station, Beltola.

Further, the Dealership Agreement date of the said service station has been extended until December. Thus NEIPDA had called off the indefinite closure of petrol pumps in Guwahati.

The strike was announced in protest of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) repeatedly asking one Ellora Debi, proprietor of RRND Service Station, Beltola, to sign the Dealership Agreement amid the pandemic situation.

NEIPDA had also cited a lack of trust of BPCL on the dealers and the demeaning and harassing attitude of the BPCL officials towards the dealers despite the global crisis.
