GUWAHATI:
The Excise Department has successfully seized yet another consignment containing illegal IMFL liquor on 11th January.
In a breakthrough, an Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) Team seized a 10 wheeler truck, bearing registration number UP 21CN 5156 at Society Chowk at Rangia yesterday while the truck was enroute Durgapur (West Bengal) from Dibrugarh in Assam.
Reportedly, 1100 cartoons of Arunachal made 'Indian Made Foreign Liquor' were being transported without any valid permit.
The consignment papers produced by the truck driver indicated that the consignment was for transporting PP Granules (14000 kg) worth Rs 5,0,000.
"The consignment was loaded at M/S G&P Plastics, Borsaikia Gaon, Maijan Road in Dibrugarh,” informed Subash Baishya who led the EIB team.
Meanwhile, Assam Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya expressing his concern asked the department to probe into the matter and book all the culprits at the earliest.
