GUWAHATI: A student from the Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT) Guwahati reportedly died on January 1, 2024, in the Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati.
The reasons for her death have not yet been ascertained, as stated by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Guwahati to GPlus.
According to information received by GPlus, the girl has been identified as Aishwarya.
The DCP Central further informed that as per routine procedure, the body of the girl has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the police are awaiting the official autopsy result. Further details are awaited.
IIT Guwahati has also released a statement saying, “It is with deep regret that IIT Guwahati shares the unfortunate news of the death of a student outside the campus on 31st December 2023. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, and we are providing them with the necessary support during this difficult time. The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident. Our thoughts are with the grieving family, and we await the findings of the investigation.”
