GUWAHATI: The Assam government has declared a public holiday on December 19 for the upcoming By-Election for the post of Ward Commissioner of Ward No. 12 in the Hailakandi Municipal Board.
This announcement encompasses all offices, educational institutions, businesses, commercial establishments, including banks and tea gardens, within the jurisdiction of Ward No. 12.
The decision to declare a holiday has been made in accordance with the provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, as the polling for the By-Election is scheduled to take place on the same day.
This directive, issued by the General Administration Department, aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the electoral process and ensure the active participation of the residents of Ward No. 12 in the Hailakandi Municipal Board.
