Holi Special: Gujiya recipe

GUWAHATI: Gujiya is a popular sweet delicacy which is traditionally made during Holi. Here is an easy to make Gujiya recipe for you to try!!

Ingredients:

-Refine flour - 200 gm
-Salt - 1/4 tsp
-Ghee - 2 tbsp
-Water as required
-Grated paneer - 100 gm
-Almond finely chopped - 1tbsp
-Cashews nuts - 1tsp
-Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
-Sugar - 1/2 cup
-Milk powder - 1/2 cup

Method: 

For dough
1. Add flour and salt in a bowl.
2. Add heated ghee on the flour.
3. Use your fingertips to rub the ghee with flour and form a bread crumbs like texture.
4. Add water to knead the dough. Amount of water required  will depend on the quality and texture.
5. Rest the dough for 30 minutes.

For filling

6. Sauté the grated paneer in ghee over medium heat. Add sugar once it is slightly fried and let it cook.
7. Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool. Once cool add milk powder,  cardamom power, almond, cashews nuts and mix it.
8. Make balls of the dough and roll out 4 circles/diamonds.
9. Take the flattened circle, wet the edges with water and place a filling over one half.
10. Fold the other half over the edge and press to seal together. Give the gujiya a shape.
11. Heat oil and deep fry the gujiyas on low heat. 
12. Once cooked serve hot.
