GUWAHATI: State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has termed the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha a historic decision and said that he will forever be indebted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same.
He took to the social media to write that the Citizenship Amendment Bill will save 17 of our Assembly Constituencies from the Jinnah's ideology. Granting of Constitutional status to clause 6 of the Assam Accord will protect us from the demographic invasion.
Congratulating PM Narendra Modi for the decision, he said that the histotic Constitution (124th) Amendment Bill 2019 will now make provision for 10% reservation for economically backward persons in unreserved category.
Himanta's posts have triggered an uproar amongst the people of the Assamese community and have slammed him harshly for his opinion. Many have united to announce that they will not make the mistake of voting BJP to power in the upoming election. On the otherhand, several others have mentioned that Himanta has disgracefully used the Assamese people time and again for his political advantages.
