Himanta Biswa Sarma has made it to the list of top 10 powerful politicians of the country, according to a survey by India Today.
He currently holds the position of State Minister of Finance, Education, Health, Tourism and Convenor of NEDA.
The minister, almost single handedly ensured BJP rule in six out of seven Northeastern states.
He has been considered one of the most powerful because, for any northeast related issue, his word is considered final for the Prime Minister and BJP president.
In yet another recently conducted survey done by Indian Express, Himanta Biswa Sarma secured the 27th position in the list of 100 most influential Indians.
