Himanta Asks for Medical Volunteers to Treat COVID-19 Patients; Portal for Registration Launched

GUWAHATI: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference on 6th April, informed that doctors, nurses and paramedics who wish to volunteer for the treatment of coronavirus positive patients and also the quarantined masses can now register with the government. The portal is  volunteer.assamassistance.in. 

Volunteers can check the health department website for the same. 

Sarma mentioned that any doctor, nurse or paramedic who is residing in or outside the state apply. People residing outside can help online while those present physically in the state can help with treatment and other support services.

Medical personnel who actually work outside of Assam but are currently in the state may also apply.

Further, a video was launched by the government to help guide people on how to make home made triple layered masks. The same would be circulated amongst all self-help groups by tomorrow.

He also mentioned that any manufacturer who wishes to make the same may do so and NHM has been directed to buy the product from local manufacturers for distribution.
