High-level Committee Completes Report on Clause 6

GUWAHATI: The high-level committee which was set up by the central government to suggest measures for implementation of the Assam Accord, completed its report on Monday.     

As per reports, the panel in its report has mentioned the definition of “Assamese people” and has also offered several recommendations for the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. The report will be submitted to the central government soon.  

The 150-page report has been finalised and has been signed by all members. The committee’s stipulated time was to expire on February 15, after receiving a month’s extension.

Reportedly, the panel members also asked for suggestions from various organisations as well as individuals and received several petitions. Further, the committee members also travelled across different parts of the state to get views from people from different walks of life.
