GUWAHATI: The Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) apprehended a drug peddler and seized a substantial quantity of illegal drugs in Guwahati on Saturday, November 2.

The operation, based on intelligence inputs, targeted the Kalyanpur area in Hengrabari under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station.
A thorough search of the suspect’s vehicle led to the discovery of 138.84 gram of heroin contained in 106 vials, along with two mobile phones and cash amounting to ₹5,300.
The suspect, identified as Bhaskar Kalita, resides in Anandapur, Kamrup, but hails from Bajali district's Nityananda village.
Following the arrest, Kalita led authorities to his rented residence, where a search of the premises led to the discovery of more contraband, including 107 capsules and tablets containing Tramadol, 645 grams of cannabis, and ₹5,400 in cash, and 52 empty vials.
The apprehended individual, vehicle, and seized substances have been taken into police custody as legal proceedings continue for the time being.
