GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his two-day visit to Assam today to inaugurate and lay the foundation of around 13 developmental projects worth up to ₹17,606 crore in the state.

- The Prime Minister landed at Tezpur today at 4 PM and is scheduled to proceed to Kaziranga National Park for an overnight stay.
- On March 9, the PM is expected to embark on a safari at Kaziranga National Park, after which he will take a short detour to Arunachal Pradesh where he will inaugurate the Sela Tunnel.
- PM Modi is then expected to arrive at Jorhat at around midday where he will unveil the 125ft bronze 'Statue of Valour' of Lachit Borphukon at Hollongapar, Jorhat, before proceeding to join the largest Homecoming celebrations in India as 5.5 lakh house owners will get possession of their homes, built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) at a cost of ₹8478 crore.
- He will then inaugurate the Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline built at an estimated cost of ₹3992 crore, which will connect Northeast to the National Gas Grid, while also commissioning two other projects aiming to increase India's pumping and refining capacity.
- PM Modi will lay the foundation of Sivasagar Medical College, along with a Paediatric Oncology Centre in Guwahati. He will also dedicate the Tinsukia Medical College, along with 2 railway line doubling projects from Dhupdhara- Chhaygaon and New Bongaigaon-Sorbhog, with the projects cumulatively costing around ₹2743 crore.
- He will lay the foundation of 3 projects costing around ₹1555 crore to enhance the domestic oil refining capacity in multiple facilities across Assam, which will conclude his visit to the state.
