Heavy Rain Expected This Week In Northeast as Monsoon Tail Approaches

 

GUWAHATI: A final burst of the monsoon is expected for Northeast India and will bring a few days of heavy to very heavy rainfall, according to the India Meteorological Department.

This week, there will be isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Northeast region, especially over Assam and Meghalaya.

Furthermore, heavy rainfall has been forecasted to continue over various other states, including Saurashtra and Kutch, West Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe.

Light to moderate rainfall may be occurring fairly widely to widespread throughout the week in the northeast region. Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is also expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim, and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfalls are reported elsewhere.

The IMD has specifically warned that isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur on October 3 over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Heavy rainfall is also in prospect for Arunachal Pradesh from September 30 to October 2 and October 4. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura would also be affected with heavy rainfall the same week.
