FIR Against Artiste Kon Waii Son For Killing Chicken, Drinking Its Blood On Stage In Arunachal

GUWAHATI: Itanagar Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Kon Waii Son after a video surfaced of the performer allegedly killing a chicken onstage, drinking its blood during a live act at the Replay India Tour in Itanagar on November 4.

The incident, which drew widespread criticism, led People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India to collaborate with local authorities to address the animal cruelty. The FIR cites violations under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960.

Sinchana Subramanyan, PETA India’s Cruelty Response Coordinator, stated, “If an artist feels the need to use animal cruelty as a shock tactic, perhaps it’s time to reconsider their career. Real artists rely on their talent to get noticed. We commend Itanagar Superintendent of Police Shri Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, for directing an inquiry in this matter and the Officer-in-charge of Itanagar police station, Shri Khiksi Yangfo, for registering the FIR and sending the message that cruelty to animals will not be tolerated.”

Talking to GPlus, Cruelty Response Legal Advisor & Associate Director at PETA, Meet Ashar said, “If you feel like you have the right to kill an animal mercilessly, then it is extremely wrong and immoral. And if anyone states that the organisers were unaware of him bringing up a live chicken on-stage during the show then we do not believe that. It is bound to be a marketing stunt which they are relying on, albeit positive or negative. We strongly condone this heinous act. The FIR was filed yesterday as we could not earlier due to a Law and Order situation at Itanagar.”

PETA India advocates for psychiatric evaluation and counselling for animal abuse offenders, noting that animal cruelty often indicates severe psychological issues.
