HBS Hints at New Containment Zones in Guwahati, Official Notification Awaited

GUWAHATI: With 15 more persons testing positive in Guwahati, all connected to the last Fancy Bazar Covid-19 positive case, the whole area and its nearby localities within a 1-kilometre radius is set to be declared as containment zone.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, interacting with local TV media late last evening, informed that since three persons testing positive are from Kumarpara (Near Kumar Nursing Home), Santipur and Fatasil Ambari, the three localities will have to be declared as containment zones.

One patient is from Railway Colony, Pan Bazar. Meanwhile, the other patient is from Kumarpara. Hence the minister urged the residents of Kumarpara not to come out of their premises as the locality will very likely go under containment zone.

The third patient is from Santipur Ashram Road and works as a driver by profession and the fourth one is from Fatasil Ambari.

In all likelihood these areas will be declared as containment zone.

The official government notification in this regard is however pending and is expected to be issued today, that is 14th May.

The minister also clarified that the whole Guwahati won't be shut down but all citizens need to be careful.
