GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several districts in Assam, cautioning residents about thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and hailstorms likely in some parts of Assam on January 17.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati has specifically identified ten districts where hailstorms are expected - Morigaon, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Dhemaji, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.
In addition to the hailstorm warning, the meteorological department has also forecasted dense fog in various districts of the state during the morning hours on January 16.
This announcement comes as a precautionary measure, urging residents and authorities to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure public safety.
