Hailakandi District Ranked 5th Among 112 'Aspirational Districts' of India

GUWAHATI: Assam's Hailakandi district fifth among the 112 aspirational districts of the country with a composite score of 53.2 percent, a new report released by the Niti Aayog.

The highest-scoring aspirational districts are Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, Balangir, Odisha, YSR, Andhra Pradesh, Sahibganj, Jharkhand and Hailakandi, Assam.

It is to be mentioned that Hailakandi district has bagged the second position in the agriculture and water resources sector among the aspirational districts.

Meanwhile, a milk processing unit is coming up to enhance the income of small and marginal farmers. A cooperative named Hailakandi Milk Union Limited (HAMUL) will soon market packaged milk under the brand name ‘Barak Milk’ at Rs.60 per liter.

President Kovind said, "By according 112 districts the status of Aspirational Districts, the Government is paying special attention to each scheme relating to development of the poor living there."
