A resident of the Noapara area said, “There are many metal fabrication shops here, and they produce a lot of noise, creating problems for the residents. We live in nearby societies and are constantly disturbed by the loud noise. We have filed complaints with both the GMC and the Pollution Control Board, but no action has been taken.”
Another resident shared, “I live here with my mother and grandfather. My grandfather suffers from several health issues, and the increasing noise is making things worse. It’s affecting his health. My father is in the Army and stays out of town. We’ve visited the Pollution Control Board office multiple times, but all our efforts have been in vain.”
Speaking to GPlus, a metal fabrication shop owner, Illiyas, said, “We’ve been operating here for almost 10 years. We have a valid GMC trade license. This is our livelihood. Yes, some noise is produced during work, but I don’t believe it’s a major issue. Still, we’re trying our best to reduce it.”
A senior GMC official stated, “We have been receiving several complaints from people across the city. We are looking into the matter and have forwarded the issue to the Pollution Control Board, which is now handling it.”
When contacted by GPlus, an official from the Pollution Control Board said, “We received complaints from residents of the Noapara area in Bagharbari. We’ve provided suggestions to the metal shop owners to help curb noise pollution. If they continue to show no improvement, we will certainly take action against them.”
Until then, residents of the area will have to live with the clanging of metals as various objects take shape.
