GUWAHATI: A youth was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to rape a girl in Maligaon, Guwahati. The accused, Bitu Nath, met the girl through Facebook a few months ago.
After the girl came to Guwahati on March 18 for work-related purpose, the accused asked the victim to meet him in a lodge in Maligaon-- where the accused and the owner of the lodge allegedly attempted to rape her.
Speaking to G Plus Jalukbari OC, Biswajit Deka, said that the girl was forcibly locked inside the lodge room and the accused snatched away her mobile phone. Later, she managed to run away and approached the Jalukbari Police Station.
Meanwhile, the Police has lodged an FIR at the Jalukbari police station and the owner of the lodge has also been arrested based on the complaint filed by the girl.
