The weather in November usually begins getting colder due to the incoming winter, however, this year the temperatures in Guwahati are still hovering around 30° Celsius.

As per the Guwahati Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, the maximum temperature at Dispur today, November 9, is 32° Celsius, while the minimum temperature is 19° Celsius. This is expected to last till November 15 next week, raising concerns about the impact of climate change.

A regular officegoer, while speaking to GPlus, voiced his frustration and said, "This kind of weather is not normal in Guwahati. Earlier, we used to take out our winter clothes and blankets by now but this year the summer seems to be unending."

Another college student echoed similar concerns and said, "The impact of climate change is becoming more visible with each passing year. The last few months are apparently the hottest in the history. Our government needs to take urgent measures and stop cutting trees immediately or we're doomed."

Residents of various areas in Guwahati have been protesting against the PWD's decision to mark trees for cutting for numerous development projects across the city. However, besides the shortening of the Dighalipukhuri-Noonmati Flyover, the department has yet to respond to the concerns of the residents in other areas of the city.
