GUWAHATI: In a tragic incident that occurred early this morning, a hit-and-run was reported in front of the National Law University in Amingaon, as a dumper collided with another vehicle.
According to official reports, the dumper collided with a van carrying eight passengers, all of whom were vegetable vendors. As a result of the collision, the individuals involved sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Tularam Bafna Civil Hospital for medical attention.
However, one of the passengers, identified as Bipul Talukdar, a 36-year-old resident of Sualkuchi, lost his life while being transferred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), as per reports.
The dumper involved in the accident allegedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Authorities are currently gathering information from various sources and the police are reportedly in the process of obtaining CCTV footage to aid in the identification of the dumper and the apprehension of the driver responsible for the incident, as per official statements.
The body of the deceased has undergone an inquest and has been subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination. Further details are awaited.
