GUWAHATI: Guwahati traffic authorities checked a total of 199 dumpers as on April 13, 2025, during an enforcement drive. The operation led to the detection of 24 offences, prompting immediate legal action.

Among the violations, 15 drivers were found not wearing seat belts, three were caught for drunken driving, three for overloading, two vehicles lacked pollution certificates, and one driver was found without a valid driving licence.
Authorities sent 18 non-FIR cases to court, issued six e-challans, and seized three driving licences.
The intensified checking of dumpers started following Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's express instruction after several accidents involving these vehicles.
