GUWAHATI: The most glamorous cine awards, Filmfare Awards will be held in Guwahati, Assam in February 2020.
This is the first time ever that the gala event will be held out of Mumbai.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard will be signed between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and The Times Group, organisers of the event will be signed on November 25 in Guwahati.
Guwahati is hosting the award show as part of the state government’s initiative to use Bollywood’s influence to promote Assam tourism at national and international levels.
The event, worth anything between Rs 20 and Rs 30 crore, is likely to be held on February 15, 2020 is likely to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium at Amingaon.
Authorities from the Assam government on August 10 said that Rs. 300 Crore has been sanctioned to promote the state as a global tourist destination.
The Filmfare Awards were first introduced by The Times Group in 1954, the same year the National Film Awards were announced.
