This move aims to evaluate the quality, progress, and sustainability of these rural water schemes. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, it is said that Assam has achieved 81% coverage, reaching approximately 58.45 lakh rural households with functional tap connections.

However, the Assam government has temporarily paused further handovers of ongoing projects, allowing for a rigorous evaluation of both quality and timeliness.

The CUBE inspection team comprising 20 professionals working across 10 inspection teams began their assessment on November 2. They are currently gathering data across all districts, engaging with local stakeholders and beneficiaries to examine the infrastructure standards and community satisfaction.

The inspection reports, set to be submitted within 15 days of the survey’s completion, are anticipated to provide actionable insights and recommendations for any needed course corrections.
