GUWAHATI: Guwahati is all set to open an all-women seller market near Atal Udayan Park in Hengrabari. In this market, only female vendors will be permitted to sell goods.
Talking to GPlus, Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati said, “The tender process is ongoing for this market. We will try to open this all-women market as soon as possible.”

When asked about the purpose of the market, Sarania added, “Since we have the space, we thought of utilising this as a market for the women sellers here.”
In 2019, Assam’s first all-women market was opened in Namrup district. It was reportedly inspired by the all-women market, 'Ima Keithel’ in Manipur.
