GUWAHATI: A robbery took place on the evening of 1st January last, at Bishnu Rabha Path, Beltola in Guwahati. The theft took place while the family had gone out to celebrate New Year's Day.
The thieves entered the house by breaking a window and opening the door thereafter. They looted a total of about Rs 3 lakhs along with gold coins and other valuable gold items.
"The family had gone to party while the thieves looted their house. The theft occurred in the evening and we got reported about the incident at about 1:30 am when the family had returned from the party. An FIR has been registered and we are investigating further on it," stated the officer-in-charge of Hatigaon police station, Biren Deka to G Plus.
The house where the theft occurred has been identified as the house of a Congress worker.
