GUWAHATI: A giraffe at the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati died following an accident in its enclosure on Thursday, December 23.
Senior officials confirmed to G Plus that the death was “accidental”, but refused to share further details pending a post-mortem report.
The cause of death will only be ascertained after the post-mortem is completed today at the Veterinary College in Guwahati. Further details on the matter are awaited.
The death has occurred just ahead of New Year festivities, when tourists from across Assam flock to the State Zoo in large numbers. Giraffes are a big part of the attraction at the Zoo.
