GUWAHATI: The Assam State Zoo has announced the hatching of two Greater Adjutant Stork chicks, a positive step for the conservation of the "near threatened" species. The news was shared by the Assam Forest Department on X (formerly Twitter) on February 10.

The Greater Adjutant Stork, with a limited global population, is found in only three known breeding regions: Assam, a small area near Bhagalpur in Bihar, and Cambodia. The successful breeding at the Assam Zoo is crucial for the species' survival.
The Forest Department's post on X highlighted the importance of conservation efforts and praised the Assam Zoo for its achievement.
