GUWAHATI: In view of upcoming Independence Day celebrations on Sunday, August 15, anti-terrorism, anti-sabotage and anti-hijacking measures have been strengthened at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport Guwahati. The following additional security measures have been adopted:
1. Patrolling of the Airport area including fore Court area and parking area etc are being carried out by QRT team of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on regular basis.
2. The anti-sabotage of the Airport area, checking of the vehicle park in front of the Terminal building are being carried out by the CISF Dog squad and BDDS team at regular intervals.
3. Surveillance of the parking area, vital installation and cargo terminal has been enhanced by CISF surveillance team.
4. The electronic surveillance of LGBI Airport is being carried out by CISF personnel round the clock.
5 On the basis of behavior detection, the random checking of vehicles and drivers are being carried out at Naka point by local police in coordination with CISF.
6. A security sensitization drive and awareness program has also been organised by the CISF team in coordination with Assam Police in which the residents of Garel, Dekapara, VIP Chowk, Kahikuchi, Borjhar, Kalitapara etc, to sensitise them about the importance of airport security and their roles.
They have also been briefed by CISF to:
a) Immediately inform CISF Control Room and Local Police if they notice any suspicious activities around them.
b) Immediately inform CISF C/R and Local Police if they notice any Drone activity/flying objects.
c) They have also been sensitized about the need for police verification of unknown persons immediately who are residing in their locality.
