Guwahati: Residents to Block Geetanagar Road Ahead of Elections

GUWAHATI: The residents of Geetanagar have demanded that bus facilities be provided in the Narengi to Geetanagar route in Guwahati. They have claimed to block the road and demonstrate a protest if the demand is not met ahead of Assam elections.

For the past few years, various groups of the area have demanded the Assam government to make city buses run on the aforementioned road. A meeting was also organized by Geetanagar Young Star Club President Bhubon Saikia regarding the matter.

Following the meeting, a 15-member committee was constituted to give the Deputy Commissioner a memorandum within the next 10 days. The observers of the meeting have claimed that they would demonstrate protests in the area if the demand is not met within 10 days or before the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections

This was informed to G Plus by Zoo Narengi Students' Union President Jeetumoni Deka.

"We will wait for 10 days but if our demands are not met, we will block the road," the student leader told G Plus.
