GUWAHATI: Guwahati Refinery has secured the first prize at the prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards 2023 for its outstanding performance in energy efficiency.
The award was presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, reinforcing India's commitment to a sustainable and greener future. The ceremony was graced by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Guwahati Refinery's remarkable achievement, surpassing 19 other refineries, highlights the significant strides made in reducing energy consumption. The refinery achieved an impressive 15 per cent reduction, contributing to India's Net-Zero commitment. The award ceremony was an acknowledgment of energy sufficiency.
In addition to Guwahati Refinery's success, Haldia Refinery received a “Certificate of Merit” for achieving a commendable 14 per cent reduction in energy consumption over the past year. The awards ceremony celebrated the remarkable efforts of Indian Oil in fostering a sustainable tomorrow.
Minister Puri, in his congratulatory message, emphasised the pivotal role played by the winning refineries in advancing India's journey toward a green and energy-efficient future.
