GUWAHATI: In a distressing incident that occurred on Thursday morning, the Railway Chief Engineer of Maligaon Station, identified as Anand Swaroop, lost his life in a road accident in the Nellie area of Assam.
A North East Frontier Railway (NFR) official confirmed to G Plus that the unfortunate incident occurred while Swaroop was returning from Dimapur, killing the NFR official at the scene itself.
The official further informed G Plus that the driver, was also present inside the vehicle when the accident took place.
As per eyewitnesses, the car rammed into a stationary truck which led to the vehicle getting completely destroyed.
Upon being alerted, Morigaon police officials arrived at the scene to take charge of the situation and sent the injured driver to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
The driver is in stable condition as of now, as confirmed by officials.
The body of the deceased was subsequently sent to the Morigaon Hospital for a post-mortem examination.v
