GUWAHATI: Hukamchand Sarawgi senior partner in one of the oldest and reputed business houses of Assam- M/s Chhaganmal Sarawgi breathed his last on February 24.
Sarawgi belonged to the erstwhile legendry S.R.C.B Group, who are pioneers in petroleum retail business since 1902 in the eastern part of the country.
He completed his graduation from Dibrugarh in 1957 and started leading the family business. He was deeply involved in several state and national level social and religious institutions in various capacities.
It is to be mentioned that Sarawgi held various leadership positions in the Shree Digamber Jain Panchayat, Guwahati where he was the Chairman. He had also received many awards and accolades in recognition of his services.
