GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police busted a theft chain after arresting three receivers and seizing a huge quantity of stolen goods from them, on Thursday, March 20.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Pan Bazar police station said, “In a joint operation of Panbazar Police Station and Fancy Bazar Outpost, under the supervision of ADCP (Central), a search operation was carried out near GMC Market in Fancy Bazar and a massive amount of stolen goods were seized.”
Three persons were arrested who are said to be receivers of stolen goods. Confirming the arrests, a senior police official told GPlus, “We have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. Manoj Kumar Sarda, a resident of Rajasthan, was operating from Fancy Bazar. Alongside him, Chutun Rout from Bihar and Damodar Pandey from Rajasthan were also apprehended. Further investigation is underway.”
During the raid, police recovered a significant haul of stolen goods, including copper wires, brass utensils, copper jugs, copper plates, urns, glasses, brass pots.
Moreover, electric wires, AC copper pipes, aluminium bars, iron vehicle components, large pots, buckets, aluminium square articles, a motor, jacks, and brass bowls were also seized.
Following interrogation, a subsequent raid at a godown in Dhirenpara under Fatasil Ambari Police Station resulted in the recovery of copper wires, copper AC pipes, batteries, aluminium electric cables used by APDCL, brass utensils, and miscellaneous iron and aluminium articles. The seized articles are estimated to be worth ₹20 lakh.
