Guwahati: Plantation Drive Carried Out at Cotton University on Republic Day

On the occasion of Republic Day the team Voice of Environment (Youth Environmental Organization) in association with Cotton University conducted a plantation drive at Seetanath Brahma Choudhury Hostel and Botanical Garden of Botany Department of Cotton College University Guwahati, Assam to send a strong message for the vision of sustainable, clean and green Assam. 

 


The was conducted by Cotton University students from various departments led by Pervez Ali of the Geography Department, Hannam Ali (English Department) and VoE team lead by Bhaskar Hazarika, Mcdonald Choudhury and Sabita Dutta.

The team planted various fruit and medicinal plant saplings on the campus. The drive is supported by Cotton College University Students’ Union General Secretary Hirak Patowari. 

 

Environmentalist Moharana Choudhury who was present spoke about the plants' significance, directly related to ecological balance, food security, and clean green Assam mission. 

 

Students and youths are future leaders of the country and play a significant role in nation-building initiatives; therefore, the team had decided to conduct the drive at the university premises on the august occasion of Republic Day to convey a message to all the students and youth community the of state and country to join hands for such initiatives throughout the state and country so that the state and nation can become a self-sufficient, food secured and green.
