GUWAHATI: In a daring incident that took place on the evening of August 7, a phone theft attempt was thwarted by vigilant bystanders in the Maligaon area.
According to an official at the Jalukbari Police Station, the alleged thief, identified as Jahir Ali who is also reportedly a resident of Jalukbari, attempted to steal a phone while on a bus.

However, his plans were swiftly foiled as he was apprehended while getting down from the bus.
Alert citizens promptly handed him over to the local authorities, as per reports.
According to official information, the culprit has been taken into custody and subsequently placed behind bars.
