GUWAHATI: Several animals in a pet shop were killed during a fire in Guwahati on Sunday, September 5. The incident occurred at around 1 AM At the City Pet Shop in the Borah Service area of the city
Three pet dogs and three rabbits were killed in the fire as they were kept inside the shop. The fire was doused by spraying water by the fire brigade later.
The cause of the fire has been ascertained to be of electric origin. This was informed to G Plus by Moon Onjon Ramchiary from Guwahati Fire & Emergency Service (F&ESS).
Animal lovers in Guwahati have been saddened by the incident due to the deaths.
"This is a serious concern and there is a need to figure out whether there were any violations made to store the animals. Proper emergency measures present at the store have to be ascertained as well," a member of People for Animals Guwahati said.
G Plus tried contacting the pet shop and but there was no response from the owner.
