Talking to GPlus, a senior engineer of IWT said, “The suspension of ferry services was due to a sudden surge in the water levels of the Brahmaputra River, causing navigational challenges for the ferries. But, the services have resumed as of today.”

The closure led to chaos among daily commuters reliant on ferries for crossing. The shutdown was also due to incomplete repair work on the ferry ramps.
