GUWAHATI: Due to rising water levels above the warning level, heavy currents as well as floating logs and other submerged materials in the river Brahmaputra, the department of Inland Water Transport Divison (IWTD) has restricted ferry services effective from July 11.

An IWTD release on July 10 stated that Guwahati-based ferry services under Inland Water Transport Divison (IWTD) are restricted up to 6:45 pm (day time only) from Thursday, June 11 until further notice.

The officers in-charge of the ferry ghats are requested to remain vigilant regarding the maintenance/mooring, securing of boats/vessels, etc. under IWT Assam, the notice added.
