GUWAHATI: The Noonmati Refinery Workers' Union on Saturday, November 13, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee. The two-day event aimed for staff and members of the refinery located in Noonmati area of Guwahati.
Speaking to G Plus, Manik Chandra Das, President of Noonmati Refinery Workers' Union said, "It is a special two-day program organised for our staff, members and workers. We have arranged events such as recitation, cooking and drawing competition for the occasion".
"Each year we organise the event for a month. But since these are COVID times we have reduced it to a two-day program. A cultural event is also scheduled for today evening. Tomorrow morning we shall pay floral tributes as well as light lamps on the statue of Hemchandra Baruah, situated in Noonmati. A cultural program shall also be carried out after paying the tribute," Das added.
"Nitumoni Saikia, a popular journalist from Assam, Aschut Sarma, General Secretary, Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), amongst other dignitaries shall grace the occasion as the Chief Guest tomorrow. The program shall conclude tomorrow at 4 PM with an open session meeting followed by the prize distribution ceremony", Das further added.
