GUWAHATI: In a new order issued by the Kamrup District Transportation Department, both riders on two-wheelers are to mandatorily wear helmets.

Failing to abide by the rule may result in the cancellation of the drivers' licences or a fine of Rs. 1000 may be imposed.
The order was announced by the newly appointed District Transport Officier (Enforcement), Gautam Das, who also urged drivers not to drink and drive or use mobile phones while driving.
